We've had a pretty laid back week. Luke has been home a lot, which has been really nice. We like having daddy around. Jack had a doctor's appointment on Monday, he is 6 months old 27 1/2 inches long and weighs 14 lbs 7 oz. He is in the 90% for height and the 5% for weight. Long and skinny, he's slowly filling out though. He has started eating solids. He had sweet potatoes and loved them and just started on carrots, he doesn't like them at all. Hopefully he'll start liking them in a few days. He is getting bigger everyday. He is starting to roll all over the floor now, Luke and I have to babyproof out house, that's the goal for the weekend. Overall, things have been going well. It was 60 degrees the other day so Jack and I went on a walk with Daisy, it was a nice walk and Jack fell asleep, he is definately an outdoor boy, he loves being outside or looking out the window when we're inside. We're heading back to Nevada next weekend to see everyone, so Luke, Jack and I are all looking forward to that.

Happy Valentines Day!!!!

We hope that everyone has a great Valentines Day with their loved ones. We have had a fun week. Luke hasn't been called to fly this week, so he has been home every night for a week and most days too. Jack and I love having him home, but Luke likes being home too, but also likes working. I went and played BUNCO with my girlfriends last night, which was a ton of fun. We get together once a month to play and hang out. It is starting to become the baby boom there, I have Jack, my friend Karen just had a baby and my friends Andrea and Erin are pregnant too. Lots of playmates for Jack!

I babysat my friend Tanya's daughter Mattea the other day. She just turned 1 and is great, but it sure was a handful with a 1 year old and 6 month old. Luckily Luke was here to help me, so we had a good day.

My big brother, Brent, drove is on his way back to Richmond/Washington DC and stayed with us last night. We had a GREAT time, I love hanging out with him. We haven't gotten to see him much lately, he is working for Barack Obama and it often out on the campaign trail. He hung out with Luke and Jack while I played Bunco, then we were up kind of late talking and hanging out. I love hearing stories from the campaign and knowing what he is up to. Jack loves his uncle Brent too, so it's cute seeing them together.

Luke and I don't have much planned tonight, probably hanging out with Jack and trying to put him to bed at a reasonable time. He actually slept through the night last night, YEA!!!, but slept in our bed, now if we could only get him to do that in HIS bed.....we're working on it.....

We have had a pretty busy week. Tuesday Jack and I went and saw Noura and Betsy, then we went and visited my friend Karen and her new baby Courtney on Wednesday. She is adorable, I can't believe how small Jack was a few months ago. It's nice to be out of the house and have people to visit. Luke came home Thursday night and his parents came to visit Friday through Sunday. Jack had a good time with his grandparents. Luke's birthday was on Saturday, so Dennis and Sandy babysat while we went on a lunch date and to the zoo. It was only about 45 degrees out, but a nice day at the zoo. Most of the animals were out and we got to touch sharks (little ones, but sharks none the less) and saw a snake eat a mouse. Luckily the tigers didn't jump out of their habitat like in San Francisco! Luke and I had a great time. Jack had fun being oohed and aahed over by his grandma and grandpa, I swear, that child gets SO MUCH attention, he is so loved.

I got to go out shopping with my friends yesterday, it was an outdoor mall and FREEZING, but nice to have girl time. Luke had some male bonding with Jack. Jack still isn't sleeping through the night, but he did sleep most of the night in his own bed last night, waking up about every 3 hours, which is better than it has been lately. Hopefully pretty soon he'll really be sleeping all night.

Just Chillin

Today Jack and I had a busy day. First we met up with my good friend Beth for lunch, which was really fun, then we went to visit our friends Betsy and Noura for a play date. Betsy is a good friend of mine here in Indy, she stays home too, so we LOVE chances to get together. Her baby was born very prematurely (25 weeks gestation), so sometimes it's hard to get together because if either Jack or I have the slightest bit of a cold, we can't be around Noura. Luckily we are both healthy and had a great time today. Here are a few pictures of Jack and Noura. Noura is technically 6 1/2 months, but since she was born 3 months early, she is more like a 3 1/2 month old. She is growing big and I think that she out weighs Jack, but he is taller.

Tomorrow we are going to visit my friend Karen and her new baby Courtney, all of my friends are having girls, which, I guess, will be good for Jack in the future, he'll definately have his pick of adorable girls.

Luke is away flying for a few days, so Jack and I are just doing our thing at home. He is getting so big, he eats oatmeal now and LOVES it, he opens his mouth wide and says ahhhhh he has also started jabbering mamamama, I get excited but I know it is just non-directive jabber, I'm working on teaching him how to say it for real, but that is probably a few months off. We're also working on dada, hopefully he'll suprise Luke with it one of these days. Jack still isn't sleeping through the night, but we've been working on that (and him sleeping in his own bed, everyone told me not to let him sleep with us, but it is hard to teach a "Sleep in your own bed" lesson at 3 in the morning).

Grandma and Grandpa Spence are coming for the weekend for Luke's birthday, so Jack is excited to see them (so are we). I also think that Luke and I will be able to go out for a little while, which will be nice too. Especially nice for Dennis and Sandy to get some alone time with Jack, which I'm sure is fun for them.

California

Luke, Jack and I just returned from a WONDERFUL trip to California. Jack and I were there from 10 days and Luke was there for a week. We stayed with my Grandma and Grandpa Kaiser and had a great time. It was their 50th Anniversary on Friday the 25th and there was a huge party at my Aunt and Uncle's house on Saturday. It was beautiful and fun to see everyone. My mom, step-dad and sisters also came out for a few days. The weather was "bad" by CA standards, only 60-65 every day with some rain, but Luke and I were glad to be out of the -5 weather in Indy. Jack had a great time meeting his great grandma, great grandpa, great aunts and uncles and cousins. Here are some pictures that we took. Jack was AMAZING on the flights to and from (especially back home because I was flying alone with him).
